Nylon 66 Rod is probably our most popular engineering plastic and is specified almost universally for most applications. Nylon 66 Rod has many advantages over more traditional materials such as Bronze or Brass in terms of initial cost and reduced machine time which helps Nylon 66 Rod save both money and time.

Nylon 66 Rod Grades
Nylon 66 Rod is a very low friction and abrasion resistant engineering plastic that in the natural grade is very capable of providing an excellent component life although there is a black Nylon 66 Rod grade that includes the MOS² which is similar to a graphite type self lubrication additive which further increases the lifespan of the material and reduces potential ongoing maintenance. There is also a grade of Nylon 66 Rod that includes glass fibre, this glass filled grade offers substantial increases in rigidity and reduced thermal expansion rates.

Nylon 66 Rod Sizes
Nylon 66 Rod natural is manufactured in sizes ranging from 4mm diameter up to 200mm diameter and Nylon 66 Rod black is manufactured in sizes ranging from 8mm diameter up to 100mm diameter. Natural grade Nylon 66 rod has a very comprehensive spread of sizes within this range, black Nylon 66 Rod has a less comprehensive range. The lengths of the rods are manufactured at 3000mm long, although the larger diameters are manufactured in 1000mm lengths due to handling issues.

Nylon 66 Rod Applications
Nylon 66 Rod would be ideal for producing pulleys and gears for machinery and even gym equipment. This is because it is incredibly long lastin, tough easy to machine and quiet in opperation which means that it will provide smooth operating components that are also much lower maintenence than the metalic counterparts. Nylon 66 Rod is also used in the manufacture of Nylon Screws, nuts and bolts this is because it is a very tough engineering plastic and easy to machine, it provides components that are tough enough for the application and provide the insulation required.
